Today's rock star is:

Steve Schwarzman, CEO, Blackstone Group
"Blackstone chief Steve Schwarzman... is achieving rock star status in the finance world and could end up as an exhibit at his latest acquisition: Madame Tussauds."
New York Post--"He's no dummy- Schwarzman gets Tussauds for $1.9B."

According to the Associated Press today, Barack Obama contributed "star power" to Chicago's Olympic bid, but evidently he held back on the rock part.

Matt - this is HILARIOUS.

I'm wondering about your methodology. How many news sources do you watch? Do you run some sort of script to help you flag uses of the offending term? How is the leading rock star computed? (That is, do you consider not just quantity, but some sort of quantity per recent time frame, so the leading rock star is culturally current?)
